CFA-1: Integrated amp
 
Invented in Austria, built in Germany. Switching net part from Switzerland, 3 Line Inputs, 1 Phono MM / MC, Tape-out, Power Output ... CFA-1/40: 2 x 40 watts/4 ohms (2 x 28 watts/8 ohms).

The Crayon CFA1 is an integrated amplifier which was developed for stereo audio reproduction - with outstanding audio quality. Every CFA1 is made to a very high quality standard.

The case is precision machined out of solid aluminum and combined with the extremely high quality of the machine-finished surface, an attractive modern design and the high quality authentic sound reproduction makes the CFA1 an unusual and individual product. The unmistakable product case also serves to protect and stabilize the internal electronics and acts at the same time as the heat exchanger to remove the heat generated by the power amplifier circuits. All products of Crayon were developed as devices with compact internal structure and this reflects the aspiration to reproduce the audio signal as authentically as possible.

The newest PCB technologies like broadband Dirks' decoupling (named after Professor Dirks) of the power supply up to 1 GHz provide extremely high electrical stability and the lowest electromagnetic interference. Cross regulators stabilize the supply of the preamplifier in the lower disturbance area of 1Hz to 10MHz and provide a balanced propagation of current throughout all operating conditions and assure that fluctuations in the Signal-GND system are held at a minimum.

The output stage of CFA1 illustrates Crayon's continuous engagement to evaluate the newest technological expertise (e.g. Current feedback) and to make products with continually improved sound qualities. Switching power supply manufactured by a Swiss company, audio & control electronics and the case produced by German manufacturing contribute to the features of the device. Crayon have developed this product uncompromisingly so that your favorite music is reproduces as realistically as possible.

Ausgabe 4/2008: Wilfried Kress - "Durchhörbarkeit ist ihm (CFA-1) wichtiger als der dicke Pinselstrich, er strebt zur Offenheit, zum Licht - und klingt dabei anders als andere Transistorverstärker (so gänzlich ist der Klirr nicht zu verleugnen). Ein Wanderer zwischen den Welten also, technisch wie klanglich. Wer sich für einen puristischen Verstärkeransatz erwärmen kann, wer einen Verstärker mit Persönlichkeit sucht oder über eine Alternative zur Röhre nachdenkt, der sollte den sauber gemachten Crayon CFA-1 einmal näher anschauen. Dieser moderne Purist könnte so mancher "No-Feed-back"Röhre das Leben ganz schön schwer machen".
